EVENTS Coming UP at Valois United Church: December News & Updates
It is with sadness we announce the passing of a lovely member of our church family, Betty Calderone. Our prayers are with her family and friends at this time--a service to remember her life, followed by reception is currently planned for Saturday, January 11, 2025. We were saddened to learn the passing of one of our longtime church member, Kenneth Ian Trasler on November 7, 2024. Private services were held, and our prayers go to his circle of family and friends. Thank You! To everyone who contributed, volunteered and joined us at our Fall Country Corner Fair—we loved to see you all, and were thrilled to have so many help out! Christmas Food Drive on now until December 15, 2024: Our latest collection of donated food has already been delivered—and our last delivery of the year will be made Monday morning, December 16 by volunteers. In addition to donated food, West Island Mission also uses donated money for perishable items and other needs—if you would like to make a cash donation, mark your gift “food drive”. Around the Neighbourhood: Benefit Concert by KCB Wind Orchestra for ON ROCK Community Services, December 7 at 7:30 pm at ROXBORO United Church. Tickets are $20 Adults, $15 Kids & Seniors. November News & Updates Valois United Church would like to acknowledge with gratitude donations made in memory of Terry Kane by Lauren Sullivan. Valois Community Singers is a new choir looking for singers to join us - no fees or auditions required, just a love of singing! Contact Judy at valois.music@gmail.com if you have questions, or just show up Sundays at Valois United Church for an hour, from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm Our Fall Country Fair is nearly here and we need your help! Please confirm that you can join us to setup, sell, cleanup or takedown by emailing admin@valoisunited.ca. Setup is currently scheduled for Wednesday evening (tables & signage) on November 13 around 7:30 pm, all day Thursday/Friday (open and sort and organize), Saturday November 16 from 9 am to 1:30 pm (serve, greet, clean), and cleanup (dismantle/takedown tables chairs) after 1:30 pm. Around the Neighbourhood: Summerlea United Church is having a 2-day Used Book Sale, Nov 15 and Nov 16 from 9 am to 2 pm, 220 Acadia Entrance Lachine, and their annual Bazaar, Saturday Nov 16 from 9 am to 2 pm. Ste. Genevieve United Church is also holding a bake sale on Saturday Nov 16 from 10:00 am to 1 pm. |

Sinfonia de l’Ouest will be holding a festive Baroque concert of Handel, J.S. Back Corelli, Vivaldi and Christmas Carols on Friday, December 20 2024 at Valois United Church at 7:30 pm. Tickets at the door are $30, $35 for seniors, $15 for students, and children 12 and under are free. Direction by Stewart Grant, with Iza Kamnitizer & Ren Karlicek, Violins/ and with Aline Kutan, Guest Soprano Valois United Church is welcoming donations of non-perishable food for West Island Mission, up to Sunday, December 15, 2024. If you would like to make a contribution, baskets are available at the back of the church on Sunday mornings between 9:30 am and 11:00 am, and also by gymnasium doors inside the building.
A LOOK TO THE PAST: Historic Photos from 1954 of the construction of Valois United Sanctuary have been shared by Steven Shephard, who grew up next door to the construction.
